A Bit About Me
My name is Josh Boldt, being an educator and sharing my learned skills and passions is woven directly into who I am. In my youth, growing up in Williams Lake, B.C. , this came in the form of coaching rugby and football and being a leader on the field myself.
In my twenties, I spent a decade in Taiwan teaching at a private American style school. I taught levels ranging from kindergarten to six a wide variety of subjects including; mathematics, literacy, physical education, performing arts and sciences. During my time in Asia, my passion for teaching was solidified through the connections I made with my students and the rewarding nature of the teaching profession. Being a part of so many student’s lives as they matured from kindergarten through grade six was a remarkable and satisfying experience. When I returned to Canada in 2013 I completed the Adventure Guiding Program at North Island College in order to set my roots back in the natural beauty that BC has to offer and learn more about this place myself. Upon completion of the program I became a sea kayak/wilderness guide, on the west coast of Vancouver island near Kyuquot, and was granted the fortune of sharing BC with visitors from around the world. In this role I was an educator once again and a steward to our province. I am currently finishing up my fifth year of the Bachelor of Education Program at Vancouver Island University. As a future certified teacher in B.C. , I look forward to the opportunity to combine my passion as an educator with my passion for the natural world around me. I am excited to grow relationships with the communities as I start my career as an educator in B.C. I will use the remaining time that I have left at VIU ( 2 hours ) completing my education to become the best educator that I can be. I will accomplish this through collaboration with my teachers and colleagues and the desire for personal betterment. Vancouver Island University has given me a great platform on which I plan to grow. |
